The Oregon Ducks and the Michigan Wolverines have managed to meet up on a couple different occasions and it seems likely that the two powerhouse programs will get the opportunity to build upon their intriguing history on the gridiron.

That said, it’s been a little bit since we’ve seen these two meet up (shoutout to the geographical distance that once defined how college football conferences were established and defined and also made it difficult to get routine meetings between West Coast and Midwest teams).

The last time Oregon and Michigan played each other was 17 seasons ago. 17 years is a long time! So, you know, it’s time for us to get back to this matchup.

Oregon Ducks football vs. Michigan Wolverines series summary:

Oregon football history vs. Michigan Wolverines: Ducks have chance to even series vs. Wolverines

The series between the Oregojn Ducks and the Michigan Wolverines began back during the post-World War II era of college football with the first meeting taking place on October 2, 1948 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. And, well, Michigan defended its home turf, beating the Ducks 14-0.

It took a while for them to meet up once more, but when Oregon and Michigan got together again in 1960, Oregon suffered a 21-0 defeat. Then, in 1973, the Ducks lost 24-0. To be completely honest, this series wasn’t much fun until recently.

On September 20, 2003, the Oregon Ducks got the Michigan Wolverines into Autzen Stadium for the first time and handed Michigan a 31-27 defeat. And then, a few years down the line, Oregon managed to travel out to Ann Arbor once more in 2007. During the 2007 road trip, the Ducks beat Michigan 39-7.

As Oregon enters into the Big Ten, they’ve won the past two games against the Wolverines, but Michigan is a different program than it was in 2007. The Wolverines are fresh off a national championship (something the Ducks are looking to win here in the near future). So, this will be a good litmus test for determining just how good this Oregon football team is.
