Jim Harbaugh is gone and the Michigan Wolverines are defending a national title. There’s a lot of things that have happened with the Michigan football program lately and the Oregon Ducks will get a fascinating challenge when they travel to the Big House this fall.
This matchup pits two of the biggest brands in college football against each other in a game that will almost certainly have a significant impact on both the Big Ten race and College Football Playoff picture. This season.
Here’s what you need to know as these two teams get set to meet each other.
When and Where?
- Date: Saturday, November 2, 2024
- Kickoff: Time TBD
- Stadium: Michigan Stadium (The Big House), Ann Arbor, Michigan
Game Details
This is a marquee matchup and it’s the first time the Oregon Ducks will have taken a trip to Ann Arbor since their dominant 39-7 victory in 2007. The Ducks are heading into the Big Ten having won the past two games against the Wolverines and they’re looking to extend that into a three-game winning streak once they play in hostile territory.
It’ll be interesting to see just how good Michigan is as the Wolverines come off a national championship season and are eager to defend that title from the conference newcomer.
Meet Oregon's Opponent: Michigan Wolverines
Again, gone is Jim Harbaugh, who took off to the NFL after winning a national championship. Still, the Michigan Wolverines are entering this season as the defending national champs and that’s a pretty big deal. New head coach Sherrone Moore is now set to lead the Wolverines forward and it’ll be fascinating to see how he molds the program moving forward.
Three Michigan Wolverines to know
- Max Bredeson - tight end: It never hurts to have a versatile tight end and it seems like Bredeson is a key cog in Michigan's offense
- Donovan Edwards - running back: Speaking of key cogs in this offense, Edwards is a dynamic playmaker out of the backfield for the Wolverines
- Makari Paige - defensive back: A key member of this Michigan defense, Paige brings plenty of experience to a team that definitely needs some continuity with all the changes that happened
Preview and prediction
Had these two teams met up last year, I would likely lean in a different direction when it comes to looking at this game. That said, I feel pretty good about Oregon’s chances as they face the Wolverines here. I don’t think this is a gimme game that is a certain win for the Ducks, but I think they’ve got a great chance to get a valuable road win here.
