Remember when Dan Lanning was hired to be Oregon football's next head coach when Mario Cristobal left and some wondered if he would be able to recruit at a high level like his predecessor?

Those questions have been answered swiftly and emphatically over the past two years.

Lanning has not only proven that he can recruit at a high level, but he might just be a top-three recruiter at the collegiate level. With Nick Saban gone, he can slide into that top three with the likes of Ryan Day and Kirby Smart and you probably wouldn't hear a ton of arguments to the contrary.

The Ducks' head coach has been on a tear recently, signing a top-10 class for 2023, a top-five group for 2024, and then starting 2025 with the No. 9 class in the country. And already looking ahead to the 2026 cycle, Oregon has the No. 6 group with three commits: Tradarian Ball (No. 47 nationally), Jonas Williams (No. 133 nationally), and Tony Cumberland (No. 135 nationally).

The Ducks might be close to adding their best recruit of the bunch in that 2026 class as they're trending with top-40 offensive tackle Kodi Greene.

In fact, Oregon received crystal balls on 247Sports from experts Brandon Huffman and Greg Biggins to land Greene on Thursday and it feels like that's where this is trending. The Ducks look like the team to beat for the four-star, top-40 prospect from Santa Ana, Calif.

Not only is Greene the No. 39 overall recruit in the 2026 class on the composite, 247Sports has him listed even higher at No. 28 overall and as the No. 4 offensive tackle.

Greene has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, Penn State, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC, and Washington along with the Ducks. This would be yet another massive recruiting win for Lanning and Co.

But would we really even be surprised?
