Oregon softball: Ducks land power-hitting transfer Dez Patmon
By Ethan Lee
The Oregon Ducks softball team is continuing to build upon the success they had this past Oregon softball season as they picked up another significant addition to the roster. Dezianna "Dez" Patmon, the Conference USA Newcomer of the Year, is leaving the New Mexico State Aggies to come to Eugene, Oregon as the Ducks announced in a press release.
Patmon is an impressive infielder who will be entering into her senior season as she joins the Oregon Ducks and she’s bringing an impressive offensive skill set to the Ducks' lineup. During her junior season with the New Mexico State Aggies, Patmon hammered 15 home runs and hit a total of 43 RBIs.
She also recorded a .387 batting average, 11 doubles, and 14 stolen bases during this past season. That’s a pretty impressive versatile skill set that Oregon now has on its roster.
Prior to New Mexico State, Patmon got her college softball career started with the North Carolina A&T Aggies, where she spent the first two seasons of her college softball career posting some pretty impressive stats.

While at North Carolina A&T, Patmon hit 15 doubles, 11 home runs, and 35 RBIs. On top of that, she had a .508 slugging percentage and stole 14 bases during her two years with North Carolina A&T. So, throughout her career, Patmon has recorded a .339 batting average, has hit 26 doubles, hit 26 home runs, recorded 78 RBIs, and has stolen 28 bases.
That’s a pretty good get for the Ducks.
Oh, and Patmon seems pretty excited to play for the Oregon softball team. In the Ducks’ press release announcing her signing with Oregon, Patmon shared the following statement:
"Oregon felt like the perfect fit from the start! The culture and team dynamic built by Coach Lombardi and the entire staff is unlike any other program. I'm thrilled to be a part of the Duck family and privileged to compete alongside this incredible group of women!"
