Oregon State, Oregon basketball agree to multi-year series starting in 2024-25
Fresh off a 2023-24 season in which it went 24-12 overall and 12-8 in conference play for a second straight season, Oregon basketball moves to the Big Ten where the schedule should be tougher.
The Ducks will face teams like Purdue, Ohio State, Michigan State, Illinois, and Indiana regularly along with familiar foes like UCLA, USC, and Washington.
With the move to this new conference, it's fair to wonder what will happen with some classic rivalries like the annual Oregon vs. Oregon State game. These two sides clearly don't like each other and fans were hoping that this game would carry on in all sports, but there's a good chance that it might die out or become sporadic over the years.
Fortunately for fans, they won't have to wait long for the reinstatement of this rivalry game on the hardwood as Oregon and Oregon State will face off in Corvallis this season.
According to Jon Rothstein, the Ducks will host Oregon State in 2025-26. It sounds like this series might become a regular one and that would be good for both sides and the state of Oregon.
Dana Altman will have a chance to extend his record against Oregon State since taking over at Oregon to 23-9 this season and then 24-9 next year. He has won seven straight games in the series, dominating the Beavers throughout his career. He also got his 750th career win against the Beavers this past season -- a huge milestone.
We'll see these two teams facing off for the foreseeable future, especially if Altman has anything to say about it.
