Despite only picking up one singular player from the transfer portal, that recruit is huge for the Hawkeyes. Kadyn Proctor, former Alabama offensive tackle, will be an absolute unit in the Big Ten and key to giving the Iowa offense some time to get their bearings.

The even better news for head coach Kirk Ferentz is that only six of his players entered the portal to leave. On top of that, he has brought back eight of his extra-year players.

Six of those eight players are defensive returners which was one of the highlights for the Hawkeyes over the 2023-24 season.

Two slightly significant losses for the Hawkeyes are backup quarterbacks Joe Labas and Spencer Petras. However, the program held on to Cade McNamara, former Michigan QB, and last year’s starter Deacon Hill.

None of the six players who are leaving Iowa have found a spot on a Power 5 school’s roster.
