Ranking the Oregon Ducks defensive coordinators from the last decade
By Sam Fariss
Oregon's heyday with Heisman-winning quarterback Marcus Mariota and an appearance in the College football playoffs, also showcased the incredible defensive strategist Don Pellum.
Pellum helped lead the Ducks to one of the most dominant seasons in program history, finishing with a 13-2 overall record.
Oregon held the Arizona Wildcats to just 13 points in the Pac-12 Championship Game and proceeded to hold the Florida State Seminoles to only 20 points in the CFP semifinals.
As the Ducks' defensive coordinator, Pellum ran a hybrid 3-4 defense, allowing more players to decide between rushing the quarterback or dropping back for coverage in the secondary.
Oregon dominated in the Pac-12 throughout the regular season, with just one loss to Arizona at the beginning of conference play.
In the National Championship Game, the Ducks' defense faltered for the first time all season, allowing Ohio State to score 42 points and defeat Oregon by 22 for the national title.
