One of the more recent additions to Lanning’s roster is Ja’Maree Caldwell. He has gone from a JUCO star to a starter for the Houston Cougars and will now play for the Oregon Ducks.

With the amount of experience that Caldwell has obtained over the years, he should help to fill the gap left behind by defensive heroes Brandon Dorlus, Popo Aumavae, and Casey Rogers. At 335 pounds, the defensive lineman will be hard to stop when he’s gained momentum and is heading for a quarterback.

Despite not receiving a lot of attention from high school and only getting four offers out of JUCO, including the one from Houston, Caldwell has transformed into a phenomenal player.

Spending two years with the Cougars, Caldwell racked up 28 solo tackles and 8.5 sacks. He also forced a fumble during the 2023 season.

In total, the defensive lineman has 38 total tackles at the Division I level and will be a definite force to be reckoned with while playing for the Ducks.
