Affectionately known as Herbie by adoring fans, Justin Herbert was born to be a Duck… and a Charger for a matter of fact.

The Eugene-raised quarterback started his collegiate career as a freshman in 2016 but was initially listed as QB2 behind Dakota Prukop. Once he took over the starting job, Herbert had a great season but the Ducks did not.

Finishing at 4-8, you would expect the quarterback’s numbers to be abysmal but Herbert set single-game records for offensive yards (512), passing yards (489, tying Musgrave), and touchdown passes (6, tying O’Neil).

Duck fans could remain hopeful that their team was in good hands. However, Herbert fractured his collarbone halfway through his sophomore season and the team struggled without him.

Herbert truly found his rhythm in his junior year, 2018, carrying the Ducks to a 9-4 season and a Redbox Bowl victory. In his senior year, Herbert got to truly show off his skills.

Finishing year four with 3,471 passing yards and 32 passing touchdowns, Herbert was at the top of his collegiate game – not to mention being the Offensive MVP in the Ducks’ Rose Bowl victory over Wisconsin.

Collectively, Herbert finished his time in Eugene with 10,541 passing yards, putting him in 2nd on Oregon’s all-time list. He is also second in career touchdowns with 95 and is sixth for single-season passing yardage with 3,471 yards in his final season.
