Oh Heisman, our Heisman. Marcus Mariota, the king of Autzen Stadium, the crowned jewel of the Ducks’ quarterback legacies. Who else would sit atop the charts in the Oregon record books?

While he only spent three seasons on the field in Eugene, Mariota is No. 1 on many of the Oregon all-time lists, and in many of the Oregon fans’ hearts.

After redshirting his freshman year, Mariota immediately stepped into dominance. Leading the Ducks to a 12-1 record, a Fiesta Bowl victory, and a No. 2 final season ranking, Mariota and the Ducks were looking good.

2013 followed suit and Oregon finished their season with a 30-7 win over the Texas Longhorns in the Alamo Bowl – the Ducks’ third consecutive bowl victory.

Entering his third year with the Ducks, Mariota was named to the Heisman Trophy, Walter Camp Award, Maxwell Award, and Davey O’Brien Award watchlists. Having foregone the NFL Draft in 2013, there were great expectations on Mariota’s shoulders.

And wow, did he ever meet those expectations.

Mariota won not only the Davey O’Brien, the Walter Camp, and Maxwell awards, but he became the University of Oregon’s sole Heisman Trophy winner.

He carried the Ducks into the College Football Playoffs where they defeated Florida State in the semifinals before ultimately falling to Ohio State in the national championship game.

Mariota leads the way on the Ducks’ all-time lists in both career passing yards (10,796) and passing touchdowns (105).

He has the second most single-season passing touchdowns (42), is tied for the most single-game passing TDs (6), is in second and fourth for single-season passing yards (4,454 & 3,665), and is tied for fourth in single-game passing yards (456).

Mariota is not only a Duck Heisman, he’s a Duck hero too.
