Way-too-early rankings of Big Ten defensive units ahead of the 2024 season

Last season, the Scarlet Knights allowed just 21 points per game, ranking No. 29 in the country, despite playing four of the top-25 teams throughout the year.

This season, Rutgers has a relatively easy schedule but the defense will have to come through on the road as the Scarlet Knights visit Virginia Tech, USC, and Michigan State.

Three-star transfer tackle Malcolm Ray should be a highlight of the Knights' defensive unit this year and has the opportunity to become a leader as Rutgers takes on its Big Ten opponents.
