Which Creighton Bluejays does Oregon need to be concerned about in the Second Round?
By Sam Fariss
Dana Altman continues his unbeaten streak with the Ducks in the Round of 64. After Oregon defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks, Altman and the Ducks are now 8-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Oregon now turns its attention to the next matchup, the Creighton Bluejays, so who should Altman have the Ducks focus on in round two?
Creighton has a powerful offense, scoring the 39th-most points per game on a national level.
However, the Bluejays’ scoring is led by just three key players, who I think the Ducks can handle. Here is who Oregon should set its sight on in the second round:
Baylor Scheierman - Guard
- 18.4 points per game
- 9.0 rebounds per game
- 4.0 assists per game
Baylor Scheierman is a big guard who can shoot out of his mind. Not only is he a cultural leader for the Bluejays, Scheierman also leads Creighton in points and rebounds per game.
Scheierman and fellow guard Trey Alexander average 36.6 minutes per game and it is reflected in their stat books. Scheierman averages 18.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game.
The 6-foot-7 guard also contributes an average of 1 steal per game – Creighton averages just 4 steals per game as a team.
