Spring practices came to an end, and now the top priority for Dan Lanning and the coaching staff is building out the recruiting class. As things currently stand, Oregon holds the Nation's 7th ranked recruiting class after landing a commitment from offensive lineman Gus Corsair on Thursday. While you often want to sign the top recruiting class, building a class is also about filling holes for the future.
As Oregon starts to build out this recruiting class, there are 3 needs that stand out as areas the staff will need to address for the future.
The 3 biggest needs Dan Lanning needs to address in the recruiting class
3. Linebacker
Oregon went lighter on linebacker last cycle bringing in just Braylon Hodge and Tristan Phillips. In the 2027 recruiting cycle, Oregon is already loading up to build a bigger linebacker class with Brandon Lockley Jr and Sam Ngata on board. The Ducks are trending towards signing at least 3 linebackers which should help fill a major depth issue.
2. Defensive Tackle
Following this season, the Ducks are going to lose elite defensive tackles A'Mauri Washington and Bear Alexander to the NFL along with depth pieces like Derrick Brown Jr and Jerome Simmons. This offseason, between Tosh Lupoi's departure and other teams needing starters, a lot of the younger depth at defensive tackle left. Oregon should look to sign a big class, and they've already started on it picking up 2 commitments.
1. Offensive Line
While Oregon signed some big pieces on the offensive line like 5-star Immanuel Iheanacho last recruiting cycle, the Ducks only signed 3 offensive linemen. Given how light the last class was on offensive linemen, this cycle you can expect a bigger haul for Dan Lanning and his staff. Thus far, Oregon has only landed OT Avery Michael and IOL Gus Corsair meaning they'll need to go on a run over the next few months.
