The college baseball postseason is rapidly approaching as the Spring begins to turn to Summer. The Oregon Ducks are well on their way toward the NCAA Tournament, but the hope for this group will be playing their way into hosting a regional. The Grand Canyon series was cancelled, leaving just two series left against #1 UCLA and USC.
Heading into the final stretch of the season, let's take a look at where the Oregon Ducks stand in the major college baseball rankings.
RPI Rankings:
Following the weekend, Oregon ranks 27th in RPI falling one spot from where they entered the week. The Ducks are being weighed down by the 126th Non-Conference Strength of Schedule and the 34th Non-Conference RPI. The good news for the Ducks is winning this weekend against UCLA who's ranked #1 in RPI would go a long way.
11point7 Field of 64 Projector
As of Monday morning, 11point7's Field of 64 projector has Oregon as a #2 seed playing in the College Station Regional against Texas A&M along with Tarleton State and Indiana State.
D1Baseball:
The Oregon Ducks entered the week as the 13th ranked team in D1Baseball's Top 25 rankings. After winning 3 out of 4 games on the schedule, the Ducks stand pat as most the teams ranked higher just shifted around. The most important factor is UCLA remaining #1 giving Oregon a chance to make a statement this weekend.
Baseball America:
In the latest Baseball America poll, the Oregon Ducks check in as the 23rd ranked team in the country after entering last week unranked. Baseball America cited Freshman Angel Laya as their standout performer with his home run in the Gonzaga game, and in the series clincher against Washington on Saturday.
