The Oregon Baseball team came into the weekend with a clear task as they hosted another Top 25 foe in the USC Trojans to close the regular season. After getting off to a rough start on Thursday Night with an extra innings loss, Oregon rebounded in perfect fashion taking the final two games of the series to secure a series win.

Picking up a series win this time of year is incredibly important, especially against a team like USC who's also looking to earn Regional Host status. The series win does a ton to help the Ducks case, and gives the group a ton of momentum heading into the Big Ten Tournament where Oregon is the 3rd overall seed.

Where Oregon ranks in National Polls as the postseason starts

RPI Rankings

RPI is arguably the most important data point for teams given that the NCAA Tournament selection committee uses it to build their field. While the Ducks won their series, they failed to move in the RPI Rankings as every team in the top 16 stood pat this weekend. Picking up another win over a team like UCLA, Nebraska, or USC this week in the Big Ten tournament could go a long way for the Ducks.

D1Baseball

After taking 2 out of 3 games off USC, the Ducks continue to rise up the rankings in D1Baseball's Top 25. After sliding from 13th to 16th last weekend, the Ducks are back on the rise as D1Baseball ranks the team 14th in the country. Oregon continues to sit on the line of hosting a regional, making winning a game or two in the Big Ten Tournament pivotal.

Baseball America

While Oregon continue to impress, Baseball America continues to doubt the Ducks in their top 25 rankings. The Ducks moved up 5 places from 23rd to 18th in this week's rankings, but it's still below where most analysts have this team ranked. After securing Oregon the series win, Baseball America named Burke-Lee Mabeus the Ducks' standout performer.

"Catcher Burke-Lee Mabeus delivered the weekend’s biggest moment when he laid down a walk-off bunt single with two outs in the bottom of the 14th inning of Saturday’s rubber match to secure the series victory."

11point7 Field of 64

11point7 built it's latest NCAA Tournament Field of 64 on Sunday after the action around the country this weekend. Winning this weekend's series against USC clearly had a major impact on the Ducks outlook as Oregon goes from being a 2 seed to hosting the Eugene Regional as the 15th national seed. 11point7 also set the bracket up for maximum chaos pairing the Ducks with Oregon State in the same region.
