Dan Lanning has done it again. Moments ago insiders from Rivals/On3 Sports have logged predictions for Oregon to complete the flip of 6-5, 5-star Mater Dei wide receiver Chris Henry Jr.
Committed to Ohio State for over two years, the son of the deceased Cincinnati Bengals star receiver Chris Henry Jr. was all set to sign his paperwork Wednesday when reports surfaced that the Buckeyes hadn't fully disclosed to him that offensive coordinator Brian Hartline was leaving the program.
Henry Jr., a fluid 205-pounder who averaged 21.7 yards a catch for the Monarchs this season, scoring nine touchdowns on a loaded roster, took a step back to reconsider his options. Despite losing two coordinators to head coach opportunities, the Ducks emerged as a serious challenger.
His ball skills, body control, route-running, hands and catch radius make him a matchup nightmare as a receiver. Though the Ducks have an excellent group at wideout anchored by Dakorien Moore and Jeremiah McClellan, they've lacked a big receiver of Henry's potential for most of the last 30 years, unless fans want to count their exceptional tight ends.
Steve Wiltfong, Greg Biggins, Pete Nakos and Sam Spiegelman have all posted crystal balls tabbing Henry Jr. for the Ducks, suggesting he'll resist heavy pressure from the OSU camp to join a program that has sent nine recent wide receivers to the first round of the NFL draft.
