Whenever the Oregon Ducks are able to pick up wins in Autzen Stadium with recruits in attendance, it's typically a great weekend for Dan Lanning and the coaching staff. This weekend, Oregon picked up a Top 25 win over Northwestern to help build some buzz in what's been a rollercoaster season for the Ducks. While some of the recruiting weekends haven't been as jam packed as you'd typically expect, the coaching staff has already started to develop some great relationships and will only continue to do so into the Winter and Spring.

This fall, the expectation would've been to gain more traction with top 2028 recruits, given that most of the 2027 class is already in place. While Dan Lanning and the staff continue to build relationships in the next cycle, the staff is also evaluating players based on their Senior seasons and has already made a move on one of the emerging stars of the High School football season.

Autzen Stadium visit has Oregon trending for 2027 WR recruit

Among the many recruits in attendance this weekend was 3-star 2027 wide receiver recruit Relando Jefferson IV. The California Native entered the week as a Fresno State commitment, but the decision to reopen his recruitment came at a great time for Dan Lanning and the staff as he made his way to town.

The trip to Eugene and Oregon's staff offering Jefferson clearly made an impact as he's already planning a return trip.

All the momentum pointing in the Ducks' favor has Dan Lanning and the staff in a great position to make a late addition to the class before National Signing Day. On Monday, Rivals' Greg Biggins and Brandon Huffman each logged predictions for the Ducks to win out in the recruitment of Relando Jefferson IV.

According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, Jefferson is the 1835th ranked player in the country, the 258th ranked wide receiver in the class, and the 170th ranked player out of California. The ranking outside the top 1,000 is going to be far too low, and on the next update, Jefferson should be a fast riser, as he's caught 54 passes for 1,104 yards and 14 touchdowns thus far this season.

The Ducks have already loaded up at wide receiver in this cycle with top 100 recruits Dakota Guerrant and Xavier Sabb, along with under the radar in-state recruit Malachi Garlington. Add in the fact that elite athlete Tae Walden Jr. could play on either side of the ball, and it's already a deep class. Jefferson joining the group would give Ross Douglas another exciting young weapon to mold, with a ton of recent success.

Given that Relando Jefferson IV has already set a return visit to Eugene, it doesn't look like a commitment is imminent, but the Ducks are certainly in a great place. The coaching staff will need to finish strong in these final weeks before Early National Signing Day, but the pieces are all lining up for Dan Lanning to sign another top 5 ranked class.
