The Oregon Ducks came into the Summer, and college football's Official Visit season with a need to make a splash on the recruiting trail. The Ducks entered the Summer with the Nation's 9th ranked recruiting class which was solid, but it wasn't quite the standard Dan Lanning has set during his tenure.

The coaching staff couldn't have had a better Summer as each weekend of Official Visits seemingly resulted in several commitments. While there were plenty of big recruiting wins for the Ducks, none felt bigger than when Oregon landed wide receiver Dakota Guerrant over Michigan on The Pat McAfee Show.

While Oregon was after higher ranked recruits in the rankings, the Ducks made Dakota Guerrant a bigger priority than any other prospect. The coaching staff and the entire fanbase could see that Guerrant was a talent worthy of a 5-star, and on Monday Morning, he finally received the respect he deserved.

Rivals' is continuing to inch closer to having their full 32 5-star recruits as Monday's update moves the class from 18 to 23 5-stars. Guerrant came into the recruiting update as the 46th ranked player in the Country, the 6th ranked wide receiver in the class, and the top player out of Michigan. Now as Guerrant makes the leap to 22nd in the country, he's getting the respect he deserves.

The bump in Guerrant's Rivals ranking should only help him earn 5-star status in the industry rankings when the recruiting cycle ends. Guerrant entered the day as the 42nd ranked player in the industry rankings, and when the dust settles on the latest update he could already earn his 5th star in those rankings.

Oregon may have assembled the most exciting trio in the entire class

When you look at Oregon's class as a whole, this group has the feel of what everyone is used to with the Ducks as Dan Lanning as landing some of the most exciting players in the country. Will Mencl and Xavier Sabb haven't received their new rankings yet, but with Mencl and Guerrant earning 5-star status from Rivals, and Sabb ranking as a 5-star in the industry rankings, no one has a more exciting trio.

Pairing Dakota Guerrant and Xavier Sabb will only make the offense more dynamic as these are do-it-all weapons who should make an instant impact upon arriving at Oregon. Adding in the fact that Jalen Lott and Gatlin Bair are just arriving in Eugene, and the future is incredibly bright for the Ducks at wide receiver.

If both Dakota Guerrant and Xavier Sabb can finish the recruiting cycle as industry 5-stars, it would make history for the Ducks as the team has never signed a duo of 5-stars at the position in the same cycle.

When you look at how loaded Oregon's wide receiver pipeline is, it's easy to see why a quarterback like Will Mencl committed to Dan Lanning. Will Mencl is arguably the most well-rounded quarterback in this class, and he won't need to carry Oregon when he finally steps into the role. With weapons like Sabb, Guerrant, Bair, Lott, and Dakorien Moore all set to make an impact for the years to come, Mencl just needs to be a solid point guard at the position to succeed.

It's an incredibly exciting time to be an Oregon Ducks fan, and now the hope will be that all these major recruiting wins can finally bring a National Championship to Eugene.
