Matt Prehm of 247Sports asked Dan Lanning how he handled recent events with his team, and the coach responded with a powerful and heartfelt speech.

"I think the U.S. could lean a lot from our locker room," Lanning said,

"I think the people in this world could learn a lot from our locker room. You walk in that locker room you've got guys of different races, guys of different backgrounds. different religions and you've got a team that loves each other."

"Tons of differences, tons of differences, where they come from, what they deal with, but ultimately you've got a team that loves each other. And I think we're missing some of that in our country."

Lanning went on to address the Charlie Kirk assassination, school shootings, gun violence and mental illness.

Lanning answered as a football coach, a father and a man of faith. He made an appeal for growth and honest conversations around controversial and difficult subjects. Mr. Prehm is to be applauded also for asking the question.
