So far there are only three.
The NCAA football spring transfer portal closes Friday April 25. Cornerback Rodrick Pleasant entered when it first opened, and backup punter Luke Dunne declared April 18.
Wednesday walk-on slot receiver Preston Alford became the third Oregon player to enter the portal, a redshirt junior from Dripping Springs Texas.
Alford played 8 snaps on special teams last season, one in the Holiday Bowl win over North Carolina in 2022. He leaves the Ducks with two years' eligibility remaining.
As a high school teammate of quarterback Austin Novosad at Dripping Springs, Alford earned first team All-State honors as a senior, all-district three seasons in a row. He lettered four years in track and field.
His departure is partly a casualty of the new 105-player roster limit, but as an athlete with experience in a top Division I program, Alford could become a valuable addition for a team in a lower rung of football, a National Honor Society student who rushed for 5,231 yards in his prep career with 81 touchdowns.
Both his parents played varsity sports at Baylor, and his brother Parker was on the roster at Texas for four seasons. Preston's scholarship offers as a 2022 recruit included Air Force, Columbia, Dartmouth and Navy.
