In Sunday's 27-18 loss at Green Bay, Washington starting quarterback Jayden Daniels sprained his knee. Commanders coach Dan Quinn told the media Monday that the second-year pro is "day-to-day" ahead of a Sunday home game against the Raiders.

"[Daniels] did have an MRI and he's already begun his return to play process with us," Quinn said.

"He is truly day-to-day. What does that mean for Sunday? I can't tell you that now. I'll have more to share on that when we get to Wednesday and practice and what that would look like. But in the return to play, he and any of the guys have to hit all of the markers for us to get back and do our thing."

Daniels' backup is former Oregon Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota, in his 11th year in the league. A starter with the Titans and Falcons, Mariota has thrown for 16,184 yards and 97 touchdowns as a pro with a 34-40 record as a starter. He's also rushed for 2,156 yards and 18 TDs.

Should Daniels be unable to go and Mariota gets the start against Las Vegas, one of his old teams, that'd give Oregon three starting quarterbacks on an NFL Sunday with Dillon Gabriel also working in the league as a backup to Joe Flacco.

With numerous NFL scouts in attendance for the Ducks game at Northwestern last Saturday., it won't be long until there are five, giving Oregon a strong claim to the title Quarterback U.

Bo Nix and Justin Herbert are established stars for Denver and Los Angeles. Herbert suits up in the Monday Night Football game against the Raiders tonight at 7 p.m. PT on ESPN.
