Top 50 recruit chooses Ohio State, continues string of second-place finishes for Oregon

With Kenyon Sadiq, Evan Stewart and Dakorien Moore to catch the football, Oregon is going to air it out in 2025. A recruiting victory today would have helped that tradition to continue.

Mater Dei four-star receiver Kayden Dixon-Wyatt chose Ohio State in a live commitment announcement on the 247Sports YouTube channel moments ago.

The Oakland, Calif. native ranks No. 31 in the nation among 2026 recruits according to Rivals, the No. 5 wide receiver. He chose the Buckeyes over Oregon, USC, Texas and Alabama.

He continues a string of decommitments and second-place/hat-on-the-table finishes for the Ducks, a three-month period where four prep standouts decommitted from the school.

In that time Oregon has plummeted from No. 1 in the 2026 team recruiting rankings down to No. 14.

Dixon Wyatt's decision would have ratcheted them up a few spots, but the most significant thing is that they lack momentum ahead of pending decisions by five-star quarterback Jared Curtis of Nashville, Tennessee on Monday, Jackson Cantwell on Tuesday May 13.

Of course, none of these players take a snap until the fall of 2026, and no decisions are binding or permanent in the era of NIL and the portal.

In the highlight film, Dixon-Wyatt's strengths are body control and a knack for coming down with the ball on contested catches. He plays against top competition at Mater Dei, a Santa Ana, Calif. school that won the MaxPreps high school national championship in 2024.

He's smooth, long, confident and twitchy and could have been a great fit for an Oregon wide receiver room that features elite receiving talents like Dakorien Moore, Jurrion Dickey, Jeremiah McClellan, Cooper Perry and Dillion Gresham. Speedster Gatlin Bair is slated to join them in 2026.

As a junior he grabbed 50 passes for 693 yards and five touchdowns, playing on one of the most loaded rosters in prep football. Teammate Chris Henry Jr. has committed to Ohio State, while former teammates Aydin Breeland, Jordon Davison, Nasir Wyatt and Jack Ressler play for the Ducks.

During his recruitment, Dixon-Wyatt told On3 Sports,

"I’ve built a great relationship with the head coach Dan Lanning… I have former high school teammates on the team. It’s not that far away. It feels like home every single time I go over there."

In the end, however, he chose to join teammate Henry and the wide receiver tradition at OSU, where they've sent four first-round draft picks at receiver to the NFL over the last four years, and Jeremiah Smith racked up over 1,000 yards as a true freshman.
