Tracy Joyner named new head coach of the Oregon Ducks soccer team

The Oregon Ducks have officially found their newest head coach for the women's soccer team. After former head coach Graeme Abel resigned in October of this year, there had been an official vacancy in the position until Oregon named Tracy Joyner as the Ducks' new head coach.

Joyner was most recently the head coach of the UC Davis Mustangs for six seasons and played collegiate soccer at Cal Berkeley. She also played professional soccer for the California Storm in the WPSL (Women's Premiere Soccer League).

Fiver years ago (2019), Joyner was inducted into the Cal Soccer Hall of Fame for her contributions during her collegiate career for the Golden Bears (2002-06) as a four-year letter-winning player.

Abel, who left the Ducks after leading them to an abysmal 5-11-2 finish to the 2024 fall season, was with Oregon for five seasons and was the fourth-ever head coach of the program. Between Abel's departure and the recent hiring of Joyner, Oregon assistant coach Rachael Doyle acted as the interim head coach of the squad. Doyle had been with the Ducsk since 2021.

In Oregon's most recent season, the Ducks' first in the Big Ten, Abel led the team to an abysmal 5-11-2 overall record – going 1-8-2 in conference play. Abel's departure was officially announced on Tuesday, Oct. 29.

While the Ducks don't have any games remaining in the 2024 season, as they fell well short of earning a place in the NCAA Tournament, Joyner and Oregon will hopefully made a match made in heaven.
