Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reports that Oregon five-star freshman safety Trey McNutt suffered a broken leg in practice and the timetable for his return is unknown.
From Shaker Heights, Ohio, McNutt ran a 10.8 100 meters in high school and starred at safety and receiver, the No. 31 prospect and No. 2 safety in the 247Sports Composite.
He made a couple of standout plays in the Oregon Spring Game and was making a bid for early playing time on a rebuilding Duck defense, which is replacing all five starters in the secondary.

With McNutt unavailable, Chris Hampton and Tosh Lupoi will rely on Purdue transfer Dillon Thieneman, redshirt freshman Kingston Lopa, Aaron Flowers and sophomore Peyton Woodyard to carry the load.
Nickel backs Daylen Austin and Jadon Canady will be called on to make more plays, and freshman cornerback Na'eem Offord another five-star, has the size and talent to contribute in a variety of spots.
On National Signing Day in February Lupoi said about McNutt, "You see this over and over of him diagnosing and coming downhill and striking, setting edges, tackling guys in space. You know, I think he's got some rare qualities of some change of direction, ability in space as a bigger, longer guy."
He enrolled early for winter workouts and immediately started working his way up the depth chart.
McNutt is a tremendous competitor and he will no doubt attack his rehab with the same intensity he brings to every snap.
