He didn't play much behind established starters, but Luka Moga had Duck fans intrigued with his 10.49 speed and scrappy attitude.
Friday the Phoenix, Arizona native signed with New Mexico, where he'll be the Lobo's likely starter in 2026. A redshirt freshman with three years to play, Moga tossed a 51-yard pass to Jeremiah McClellan against Oklahoma State, reeled off a pair of keepers in September that went for 25 and 22 yards.
A fresh start for a dual threat with smarts and savvy
He'll thrive in the wide-open Mountain West under head coach Jason Eck, the former Idaho coach who boosted the long downtrodden program to 9-3 this season with a 35-10 win over UCLA, reaching a bowl game for the first time in ten years.
Eck's a master at building culture and community. The team drew 37,440 for the rivalry game with New Mexico State, their biggest home crowd in 20 seasons.
It's a great landing spot for the tough-minded, versatile Moga, who could drive home on a long weekend if he wanted to. Albuquerque is about six and a half hours from his old neighborhood. Lobos fans will love his dynamic style.
And who knows, after a couple of seasons of operating the Eck multiple offense, he could enter the portal again as a quarterback with two dozen FBS starts under his belt, maybe make a visit to Eugene and tour the new practice facility as one of the top quarterback prospects in the portal.
Moga joins Austin Novosad as a former Duck QB with a new home. Earlier this month the Dripping Springs, Texas phenom signed with Bowling Green, where he's likely to light up the MAC.
