The Oregon Ducks have used the Summer to catch absolute fire on the recruiting trail as Dan Lanning and the staff have seemingly landed any player they've wanted. Coming into the Summer, Oregon held the Nation's 9th ranked recruiting class, which is far behind the annual top 5 mark the fans have gotten used to. After 4 weekends of Official Visits, the Ducks hold the Nation's 3rd ranked recruiting class with 24 players committed.

It's been an incredible offseason for Oregon on the recruiting trail, and there isn't much more the coaching staff or the fans could've asked for. The lone hiccup for the Ducks on the trail appeared on Saturday when a former top Oregon target announced his commitment.

Oregon lost 5-star OL Ismael Camara due to unfortunate circumstances

Coming into the Summer, one recruit everyone was keeping an eye on for Oregon was 5-star offensive lineman Ismael Camara. The elite recruit was born in France, but playing High School football in Texas, with suitors all over the Country. Part of what made Camara so exciting was his decision to reclassify into the 2027 recruiting class.

The issue with Camara reclassifying is the fact that he's currently working to finish school a year early which led to him canceling his official visits this Summer.

Before Ismael Camara decided to cancel his official visits, the Oregon Ducks were expected to win out in his recruitment, with most of the biggest insiders in recruiting predicting he'd land in Eugene.

Instead, the Ducks weren't able to get Camara back on campus this Summer, but the in-state Texas Longhorns were able to get him to make the trip. That final official visit for Texas proved pivotal, as Ismael Camara announced his commitment to the Longhorns on the 4th of July.

While missing out on Ismael Camara isn't the end of the world, the loss does sting a bit for the Ducks. Ismael Camara is an elite offensive line recruit who easily could've steppped into a role on the Oregon front from the moment he stepped on campus. Any time that a team is in the running for a 5-star recruit it hurts to see them land elsewhere.

The good news is that A'lique Terry and the rest of the staff have done an incredible job building up this offensive line class over the Summer. Whether Oregon continues to recruit Camara or turns elsewhere remains to be seen, but whatever the Ducks do next will be notable to watch.
