It's official, the Oregon Ducks are the top dogs in the Big Ten. The No. 3 Ducks upset the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes at Autzen Stadium in a nail-biting victory to cement themselves as a powerhouse program this season.
In the post-game interview, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning simply couldn't contain his excitement and pride for his team.
"We fight every day," Lanning said after the win. "I'm crazy proud of them."
Lanning gave the Buckeyes their well-deserved credit for being a talented team and one that put up a good fight against his Ducks.
Despite Ohio State quarterback Will Howard's best efforts, and questionable end-of-game decision, the Ducks earned their second win over the Buckeyes in just three years.
At the end of regulation, Oregon clung to a 32-31 victory and moved to 6-0, making them bowl eligible and likely pushing them into the top-two spots in the national rankings.
Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel had the game of his life. He earned 341 passing yards, 32 rushing yards, 2 passing touchdowns, and 1 rushing touchdown. Gabriel threw zero interceptions and the Ducks had zero turnovers while the Buckeyes finished the game with a fumble.
The win over Ohio State's was just the second victory for Oregon over the Buckeyes in the two programs' histories. This is just Lanning's third year as a head coach and it was his first win over a top-five team.
"I'm so proud of our players, I'm so proud of our crowd," Lanning said. "Big moments, big games, this is why you come to Oregon."
