Another week is in the books and we are just a week away from the first edition of the 2025 College Football Playoff rankings. This is the first year in which we will see 12 teams make the field and Oregon is pacing the country as the best team, sitting at 8-0 after another ranked win.

Just this past week, the Ducks mounted a 35-3 halftime lead over No. 20 Illinois before coasting to a 38-9 win in Eugene. This was the second ranked Big Ten win in three weeks for Oregon.

With that, we should see the Ducks hold on to that top spot in the first edition of the rankings and we will see next Tuesday if that holds up. They have a big matchup this weekend in Ann Arbor against a pesky defensive Michigan team.

What do the rest of the playoff projections look like after Week 9?

Another interesting week of action has shaken up the top of the rankings slightly as we should see a new team representing the Big 12 with BYU improving to 8-0 with a win at UCF. I think we also see Texas A&M join the field in place of LSU after winning that matchup this past weekend. It was tough to knock Iowa State out of the projections, but right now, I only see one Big 12 team making the field.

If Oregon can get past Michigan this weekend, we will see the Ducks in the top spot of the first playoff rankings next week. It's not going to be a walk in the park, but Dan Lanning will have them ready.
