Oregon head coach Dan Lanning received his first commitment from the 2024 winter transfer portal when former Purdue Boilermaker and the No. 1 safety in the portal Dillon Thieneman chose to bring his talents to the Ducks.

Thieneman is a sophomore, was a three-star prospect coming out of high school in 2023, and is a four-star transfer, according to 247Sports. Here is everything Oregon Duck fans need to know about their first addition to the team during this transfer cycle:

Dillon Thieneman career stats at Purdue

  • 210 total tackles (144 solo, 66 assisted)
  • 8 pass deflections
  • 6 interceptions (returned for 58 total yards)
  • 2 forced fumbles
  • 1 sack

Thieneman led the Boilermakers in tackles during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. In 2023, the defensive back led Purdue in interceptions – all of his career INTs coming during that season.

Dillon Thieneman personal stats

  • Height: 6-foot-0
  • Weight: 207 pounds
  • Collegiate experience: 2023-25 (24 games played)

Thieneman is a relatively stout defensive back which is a large part of why he usually lines up at safety instead of cornerback.

Dillon Thieneman stats vs. Oregon in 2024

  • 5 total tackles (3 solo, 2 assisted)
  • 0 pass deflections
  • 0 interceptions

The Oregon Ducks dominated the Purdue Boilermakers in their regular season matchup, there is simply no denying that fact. Despite Oregon's shutout victory (35-0) over Purdue, Thieneman still pulled off five impressive tackles including three solo takedowns against the Ducks.

While Thieneman is the first transfer to commit to Oregon during the winter transfer portal, just three players have entered their names to transfer away from the Ducks – redshirt freshman Tyler Turner as well as true freshmen Jaxson Jones and Jac'Qawn McRoy.

The No. 1 Oregon Ducks are set to play in the Rose Bowl Game as their quarterfinal matchup in the College Football Playoffs on Jan. 1 at 2 p.m. PT on ESPN.
