Ever since Oregon football beat Ohio State over a month ago, the Buckeyes have been begging for a rematch. The two teams were very evenly matched and it was obvious with the tight finish.
Well, Ohio State might just get its wish now.
Actually, it's almost overwhelmingly likely that Ohio State faces Oregon again in the Big Ten title game as the Buckeyes beat No. 5 Indiana 38-15 on Saturday afternoon to improve to 10-1 on the year with just one game left against a middling Michigan team.
Could Oregon still face a team like Penn State or Indiana in the Big Ten Championship? Yes, but the chances of that are slim now that the Buckeyes control their own destiny.
Oregon is locked in to the Big Ten title game and it has been since last weekend when it held on for a huge road win over Wisconsin. It didn't feel like the biggest win of the year, but it punched the Ducks' ticket to their first-ever Big Ten Championship in their first year in the conference -- an impressive feat. Now, they're just awaiting their opponent.
If Ohio State loses next week and both Indiana and Penn State win, there will be a tiebreaker between those two teams. If the Buckeyes win, there's no need for a tiebreaker.
But seeing as Michigan has beaten Ohio State in three straight meetings, Buckeye fans aren't going to be crowning themselves victorious in this game early. They know better by now, especially since Ryan Day has struggled against the Wolverines.
As of right now, though, the Big Ten title game will be a rematch for the No. 1 overall seed in the College Football Playoff.
