Dan Lanning has supercharged Oregon's recruiting efforts, signing top 5 classes on an annual basis, making it an incredibly exciting time to follow the team on the recruiting trail.

In order to land a top 5 recruiting class, you have to land special recruits, and Oregon is constantly bringing players to campus who are ready to make an impact from Week 1. Among the most interesting recruits to follow in Oregon's current recruiting class is elite quarterback recruit Will Mencl.

Will Mencl ranks as the Nation's top QB recruit and the 13th ranked player according to Rivals' recruiting rankings. With Dante Moore likely departing for the NFL Draft this offseason, Will Mencl's arrival could give him a chance to break a trend under Dan Lanning.

On Friday Night, Will Mencl's elite ability was on full display as he led Chandler High School to a 42-10 win over Salpointe Catholic, passing for 4 touchdowns.

Will Mencl is a rare talent at quarterback with elite arm talent, but also the ability to make plays with his legs, either rushing or buying more time to find his star receivers. Mencl's ability jumps out every time you watch him on film, as he's clearly the most talented QB recruit that Oregon has landed under Dan Lanning.

When Will Mencl arrives on campus, the biggest question will be if he's able to start as a true freshman and whether he's going to break a trend under Dan Lanning. Thus far, Oregon is yet to start a recruit that the Ducks have signed out of High School at quarterback, with Bo Nix, Dillon Gabriel, and Dante Moore each leading the offense.

When Dante Moore leaves for the NFL Draft next season, the Ducks could either dip back into the Transfer Portal for a starter or let the players on the roster compete for the role. Nebraska transfer Dylan Raiola could continue the trend under Dan Lanning if he earns the starting role or the Ducks could break the streak.

Brock Thomas and Akili Smith Jr. each will have a chance to come back and compete for the starting job, or they could end up entering the Transfer Portal to find playing time. Adding Will Mencl to that group could further lead Oregon toward holding a QB competition as there's going to be a ton of talent in the quarterback room.

It's still far too early to tell, but with the rate Oregon has landed top recruits at, it's only a matter of time before one finds a way to break Dan Lanning's streak of starting transfers.
