Just 24 hours after Billy Napier was fired at Florida, reporters in Seattle asked Washington head coach Dedd Fisch about his future plans and commitment to the Huskies.

Fisch, who has changed jobs every three years since breaking into coaching, was ready with a nondenial denial. “I’m not going to address any coaching changes or coaching rumors or anything to that effect,” he said. “I’ve learned the most important thing we can do here is being where our feet are.”

In his second season the 49-year-old head coach is 11-9 at Washington, 28-31 overall. He's a 1998 graduate of the University of Florida, though he did not play football in high school or college, an all-state tennis player as a prep.

When it comes to answering questions from the media, Fisch notoriously sticks to his serve-and-volley roots. Whereas Dan Lanning said, "I'm not leaving" and "The grass is damn green in Eugene" when rumored for other jobs, Fisch dinks and ducks.

The evasiveness has Dawg fans antsy, mindful of their experience with Kalen DeBoer, who took the money and bolted to Alabama.

In three seasons at Arizona he elevated the Wildcats from 1-11 in 2021 to 10-3 and third place in the PAC-12 in 2023 with a win in the Alamo Bowl. His 2025 Washington team is improved but they've lost 24-6 to Ohio State and 24-7 to Michigan.
