Xavier Lherisse, a dynamic athlete from Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne, Florida announced his signing with Ducks this morning just after four a.m. on the West Coast, the first recruit to send in his paperwork.

At Eau Gallie Lherisse was an igniter, a dangerous kick returner, receiver, ball carrier and defensive stud who looks like he was carved out of Brazilian hardwood. His father is an elite athletic trainer, and Lherisse has taken the lessons to heart.

He's tough in coverage, a hitter who can run, a natural in the Nickel spot supporting the run and covering slot players. The speed and tenacity could make him a weapon in special teams, the kind of battler Chris Hampton likes, an intense practice player with a 4.49 40 and a 40-inch vertical jump.
