Oregon Redshirt Sophomore Signal caller Marcus Mariota finds himself heading into his second season at the helm for the Ducks after a stellar Freshman year that has been awarded with a ‘Watch List Nomination’ for the Best Quarterback in the Country and the Davey O’Brien Award.

Mariota is among 34 Oregon Athletes on Watch Lists, at this point, heading into the 2013 season in a month and a half. Last year he threw for 2,677 yards and set school records for completion percentage (68.5) and total touchdowns (38).

According to GoDucks.com, Mariota is one of five 2012 semi-finalists for the award to be named in this year’s watch list. Mariota is joined by the Pac-12’s Kevin Hogan (Stanford), Brett Hundley (UCLA), Taylor Kelly (Arizona State) and Keith Price (Washington) on the watch list.

The Foundation and the Selection Committee will announce three finalists on Monday, Nov. 25. The 2013 Davey O’Brien Winner will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Thursday, Dec. 12.
