Oregon Ducks Linebacker Derrick Malone on Butkus and Lombardi Watch Lists

Last week was a good week for the Oregon Ducks as several members of the offense and defense were named to Preseason Watch Lists at their respective positions. On Monday, Oregon Senior Derrick Malone was included on two of those lists, for the Butkus and Lombardi awards respectively. The Butkus Award is given to the Nation’s Best Linebacker and the Lombardi Award is for the Best Down Lineman or Linebacker. Malone is also on the watch list for the Nagurski Trophy for the 2014 season.

The six foot two Senior finished the 2013 season leading the Oregon Ducks in tackles with one-hundred and five, forty five were solo tackles. Malone is among several Oregon Ducks football players to be named to Preseason Watch Lists including Cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, Quarterback Marcus Mariota,  and Center Hroniss Grasu. Malone and the rest of the Oregon Ducks start Fall Camp in preparation for the upcoming season on August 4th.

The Ducks kick off the regular season on Saturday, August 30th hosting South Dakota inside Autzen Stadium. Kickoff is set for a 7:30pm PT on Pac-12 Networks.
