AP Poll: Oregon Ducks Start 2014 In Top Five....Again

The Oregon Ducks have matched their highest preseason ranking according to the first Associated Press poll of the season which was released on Sunday. Mark Helfrich’s team will start the 2014 campaign ranked third in the poll behind Florida State, who had the top spot in both the AP and Coaches Polls, and Alabama at number two. The Oklahoma Sooners are also in the thick of things at number four, right behind the Oregon Ducks.

Several other teams in the Pac-12 Conference also made the first poll of the season from the Associated Press. Pac-12 Contender UCLA took the seven spot and the Stanford Cardinal sit just outside the top ten at number eleven. It is the fourth straight year that Oregon Ducks have made the top five of the Associated Press Preseason poll and the seventh time in a row they have been ranked to begin a season.

The Michigan State Spartans who enter Autzen Stadium on Saturday, September 6th enter the season ranked number eight making the matchup in Eugene a top ten affair. There is one more important date to add to the calendar starting in 2014. Make sure that October 28th is circled.

That is the day that the selection committee for the College Football Playoff will announce their first top twenty five rankings. The Oregon Ducks start the 2014 season on Saturday, August 30th hosting South Dakota at 7:30pm Pacific Time. The game will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks.
