It did not take long for the Oregon Ducks to get the first score of the game. In fact it took just under two minutes, one minute thirty six seconds to be exact. The South Dakota Coyotes did manage several drives on the Oregon Ducks defense that alloted to thirteen points in the first half, but Marcus Mariota did quite a bit more working the ground game for over sixty yards and tossing four touchdowns through the air to give the Oregon Ducks a 48-13 lead at halftime.

The questions entering the game for Oregon at  were answered early with touchdown catches by Wide Receiver Dwayne Stanford, Byron Marshall and Freshman Royce Freeman whose first carry as an Oregon Duck was for nine yards and a first down. He added to it shortly after with a one yard forward rush into the endzone for his first touchdown. Freeman added another on a twenty six yard scamper before halftime. After the first half Quarterback Marcus Mariota’s night was over. His line was impressive. Mariota tied that career passing record of sixty-six touchdowns with Darron Thomas and now has a passing score in each of his games as an Oregon Duck, 27 games. Like I said, impressive. One half was all Mariota needed as Oregon ran away with a 63-13 win.

On the night, he accounted for two hundred and sixty seven yards and four touchdowns. A good start for the Heisman Hopeful. It was announced just before halftime that ESPN and College Gameday will return to Eugene next weekend for the showdown with Michigan State. It will be a great battle between Quarterbacks Connor Cook and Marcus Mariota on the field.

It was also a big night for Oregon on the ground with the already mentioned Freeman rushing for two scores. Byron Marshall also had touchdown and broke the one-hundred yard mark for the first time in his career. Next week will be a big test under the spotlight for the Oregon Ducks in front of a national audience and against a solid defense in Michigan State who won their game on Friday night against Jacksonville State 45-7.

The Ducks and Spartans take the field at Autzen Stadium next Saturday at 3:30pm Pacific time on FOX
