Commitment day is here for Jared Curtis, the highly-coveted five-star quarterback from the class of 2026, and he is down to just two programs: the Georgia Bulldogs and the Oregon Ducks.

As the hours before his commitment quickly dwindle, there are two major reasons Curtis should obviously commit to the Ducks over the Dawgs, if he cares about his future career in the sport, that is.

Oregon has more starting quarterbacks in the NFL. It's that simple. Since taking over the program, head coach Dan Lanning and offensive coordinator Will Stein, who also acts as the Ducks' quarterbacks coach, have produced NFL-level quarterbacks.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have slowed their output of professional QBs, even losing their starter, Carson Beck, to the transfer portal when it became clear he wasn't ready to declare for the next level.

Bo Nix became a star as a rookie

It took just a few games for former Oregon quarterback Bo Nix to find his footing in the NFL. Then, he led the Denver Broncos to their first playoff berth in nearly a decade as he thrived under the leadership of head coach Sean Payton.

Nix isn't the only former Oregon starting QB who is now excelling at the next level. Eugene-grown star Justin Herbert has been a starter in the league for six seasons now, and despite not being developed by Lanning or Stein, is further proof that Ducks have what it takes at the next level.

Alongside Nix and Herbert, former Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, the Ducks' Heisman winner, backed up Jayden Daniels last season and even led the Washington Commanders to a few wins throughout the year.

Most recently, Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Georgia only has one former player starting as an NFL quarterback

Matthew Stafford played quarterback for the Bulldogs from 2006 through 2008, yes, nearly two decades ago. Since then, he has started for two teams in the NFL (the Detroit Lions and the LA Rams).

Stafford is the only former Georgia quarterback who is starting in the league, and he played for the Bulldogs nearly 10 years before current head coach Kirby Smart took over the program.

Sure, behind Stafford is another Bulldog in Stetson Bennett, who played for Smart from 2019 until 2022. However, he has yet to play a regular-season snap for the Rams as he patiently waits his turn to (hopefully) become a starter.

Curtis is scheduled to announce his commitment at 2:30 p.m. ET.
