Basketball Recruiting: Anthony Bennett Update
By Brian Spaen
The upcoming basketball season hasn’t even started yet, and the Oregon Ducks have already made a Final Four appearance. Top five national recruit Anthony Bennett has narrowed down his list of teams to four with Oregon remaining on the list, and notably rival Washington was eliminated.
The 6-foot-7, 242-pound forward is a five-star recruit who is ranked as the highest forward and fourth overall nationally by 247sports, and is also very high on other recruiting sources.
The other three teams that are on Bennett’s final list are Kentucky, Florida, and UNLV. Other teams that have given him offers are the aformentioned Huskies, Connecticut, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, and West Virginia. It’s reported that he will cut another team in the upcoming week and will make three visits to the remaining schools.
Even though the Ducks are on the list, it doesn’t look too favorable. According to this update on UNLV’s recruits, it’s determined that Florida is the current front-runner, and of course Kentucky is more favored being a champoionship contender under John Calipari each year. The favorable bullet points for Oregon include the team has already recruited Bennett’s teammate from Findlay Prep, Dominic Artis, and that Bennett would have the most playing time in the small forward position should he only want to play there.
Here’s an article that gives more information about Anthony Bennett posted earlier this month.
