Thursday night was Senior Night at Matthew Knight Arena and full of emotion, not only from the players, but from the 10,000 plus fans that came to watch the Civil War between Oregon(23-6, 12-4 Pac12) and Oregon State(13-16, 3-13 Pac 12). The Ducks won 85-75, but the pesky Beavers fought till mid way through the second half. The Ducks also saw the return of Freshman Dominic Artis.
"“Man, what a difference he made”Altman on the return of Artis"
Artis played limited minutes that did not go unnoticed. He received a standing ovation from the crowd when he entered the game. In 12 minutes he put up six points and two three pointers, one bounced off the rim and fell through the basket. The speed of the offense seems more crisp when Artis is on the floor. He now has a week to rest to get ready for Colorado.
The Ducks suffered a scare with about six minutes left in the first half when Freshman Damyean Dotson hit the deck hard on a drive. He was down for about five minutes and was helped off the court by teammates. He returned for 2nd half warmups and appeared to be favoring his left hip. Altman said after the game he will injured his hip and could need a week to recover.
The Seniors led the charge for scoring against Oregon State. Carlos Emory had a career high 21 points and Arsalan Kazemihad 17 points and 12 rebounds. Center Tony Woods finished with 16 points.
Dominic Artis Returns to the Floor for the First Time Since January
Oregon shot 51 percent from the field, their best performance in the last 10 games and are winners of five of their last six. Dana Altman’s club leads the Pac 12 by a game over UCLA, Cal and Arizona. They finish out their season next weekend with a roadtrip to Colorado and Utah before heading to the Pac 12 Tournament in Las Vegas.
