CNNSI Preseason Top 25: Oregon Ducks #5, Stanford #2

So it seems there is another media outlet that is higher on the Stanford Cardinal than the Oregon Ducks – the first, of course is ESPN and Ted Miller – the second, CNNSI. On Wednesday CNNSI released their Top 25 Preseason list. Here’s the Top 5: 1. Alabama, 2. Stanford, 3. Texas A&M(Manziel news did not deter anything), 4. Ohio State, 5. Oregon.

Of course being in the Top 5 of any list should be considered a compliment, but for this Duck team the hopes for the season are higher. The Associated Press Preseason Poll will be released on Saturday morning and it seems to me that Oregon should be somewhere between 2 and 5 – of course, so could the Stanford Cardinal.

The Ducks do seem to be getting solid attention from Sports Illustrated by making one of six regional covers – Oregon’s cover features Quarterback Marcus Mariota. There is one other Pac 12 cover with Stanford and Shane Skov.

Here’s what CNNSI says about the Ducks.
Interesting note is that the Ducks have the Talent, but the question is how far will the Coach take them? Of course they note the big game of the season being in early November vs Stanford. One other team made the CNNSI Preseason Top 25 Poll. The Cal Bears start the year at #21.

Oregon kicks off the 2013 season on Saturday August 31st vs Nicholls State(1pm, Fox Sports 1) inside Autzen Stadium.
