Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week: Oregon QB Marcus Mariota

The Pac-12 Conference has announced the Pac-12 Player of the Week for the second week of the regular season and there should be no surprise for Oregon Ducks fans who it is. Oregon Quarterback Marcus Mariota who pretty much single handedly stepped up to take down Michigan State has been honored this week.

Mariota had two touchdown passes to Wide Receiver Keanon Lowe in the victory and threw for three hundred eighteen yards going seventeen for twenty eight through the air on the day. When the Oregon Ducks ground game, who had an abysmal first half going thirteen yards on fourteen carries, Mariota and the Offensive Line stepped up on the second half allowing an unanswered twenty eight points in the victory which allowed the Oregon Ducks to leapfrog the Alabama Crimson Tide for #2 in the Associated Press Poll this week.

Mariota is near the top in several offensive categories nationally including accounting for seven touchdown passes with no interceptions. His pass efficiency rating is fourth in the nation at 208.21. He is averaging 12.2 yards per pass attempt in the Oregon Ducks fast paced offense, good enough for second in the country.

This week Oregon welcomes in Wyoming to Autzen Stadium. The Ducks are favored by forty five points against the Cowboys on Saturday, Kickoff is set for an early 11am start. The game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks.
