Young Comes Through Again for Oregon As Ducks Beat Stanford

It came down to the final play of the game on Sunday afternoon at Stanford and the ball was in the hand of the Oregon Ducks leading Free Throw shooter in Joseph Young. He came through again to lead Oregon to a 73-70 win over Stanford and a sweep of the California schools since 1976. With the victory the Ducks secured at least third place in the Pac-12 Conference, but could finish as high as second depending on future outcomes.

With the win, Oregon secured a first round bye in the Pac-12 Tournament next weekend. Elgin Cook and Joseph Young led the Ducks with 21 points each. Dana Altman’s team hit forty-seven percent of their shots in the win, their second straight on the road. Earlier this week Oregon had a win against Cal. The Ducks move to 22-8 and 12-5 in the Pac-12 and will face one more road test before the Pac-12 Tournament in a date against Oregon State.

The Beavers have lost five of their last six games and will look to upset Oregon. A win for the Ducks on Wednesday against their in-state rivals should also boost their chances of getting into the NCAA Tournament. Oregon is in a roll now winning eight of their last nine games, including key road games against Illinois, Arizona State and now Stanford and Cal.
