Although official rosters will not be revealed until the early days proceeding the June 25th NBA Draft, there are some familiar names that will be participating. Summer League contracts pay approximately 100 USD per day, thus teams can bring in players they otherwise wouldn’t have. The Summer League has showcased several former Oregon Ducks who’ve gone on to play overseas, including Maarty Leunen, Malik Hairston, and Mike Moser.
This year, it’s almost certain that Joseph Young will be playing, though he won’t know where until Draft Night. He’s been projected as a late first-round pick by several recent mock drafts, and it’s quite possible that he could be the Summer League “star” whenever he ends up. If he ends up in late game situations, Young will get an opportunity to prove what Oregon fans already know: He can take over a game in the clutch.
Arsalan Kazemi is expected to play for the Philadelphia 76ers Summer League squad (location has not been specified), and it will be his first true opportunity to showcase the expansions in his game since being drafted in 2013. Last year, Kazemi had a short stint with the Sixers’ Summer League team due to National Team commitments in Iran. It’s been two years since Oregon fans have watched him, and this will surely be a great chance for them to catch up on one of their favorites.
According to multiple sources, Mike Moser and EJ Singler are also potential candidates for a Summer League roster spot, although their landing spots are unknown. Singler spent the past year in Estonia, while Moser was playing in Lithuania. Singler has training camp experience with the Portland Trailblazers, while Moser was a Summer League standout for the Boston Celtics last year.
Stay tuned for the addition of other former Oregon Ducks to NBA Summer League teams.
