While the Summer is coming to a close, Oregon Sophomore Sabrina Ionescu is working on her game overseas and played a big role on Sunday.

Sabrina Ionescu came to the Oregon Ducks as a big time recruit and showed her work ethic, style and ability to score last season helping push Oregon farther than they have ever been in the NCAA Tournament. With the 2017 season just a few months away, Ionescu was named tot he USA Basketball Under 23 team and is currently playing in the Four Nations Tournament in Tokyo Japan.

In three games she is averaging 10 points per game. Facing Team Canada on Sunday, Ionecu put up 10 points and had three steals in a game that was dominated by the United States. Fellow Pac-12 player Jordin Canada is also playing for the US and had five points. It was a 107-61 win for Team USA. As a team they forced 35 turnovers and shot 60 percent from the floor.

The opening game was against Australia and Ionescu put in 13 points. Team USA is 2-0 so far.

In the team’s third and final game against host Japan, Ionscu scored 8 points and had 3 rebounds to help Team USA win the Four Nations Tournament.

The experience gained overseas should help the soon to be Oregon Sophomore in preparation of the upcoming season that will have some big challenges, including facing Oklahoma and Mississippi State. The Ducks will also play in the Preseason WNIT.
