The Oregon Ducks Women’s Basketball team passed an early season test vs Oklahoma.
Kelly Graves has the Oregon Ducks in a good place. The team is gaining respect early this season and despite a loss at Louisville the Ducks remained ranked 10th in the Nation in the AP Poll. On Saturday they matched up with Oklahoma, a game that was part of the Phil Knight Invitational. From the start, Oregon set the pace on the court shooting 53 percent for the game and an impressive 43 percent from three-point range.
The Oklahoma Sooners came into the game with three players averaging a combined 54 points per game. Vionese Pierre-Louis had 32 points, but the Oregon Defense held the Sooners to 35 percent shooting from the floor and just 5 percent from beyond the arc. Oregon had five players in double figures.
Sabrina Ionescu finished the game with 28 points shooting an impressive 4 for 7 from three-point range. The Ducks continued to be efficient with 20 assists. The Oregon Defense also had 9 blocks and 5 steals. Despite 16 turnovers, Oregon more than made up for it with points off the bench. Oregon had 25 points from their reserve players and were able to get inside shots for 48 points.
The Oregon Ducks never trailed in the game and jumped out to a 19-11 start. The team won three of four quarters, tying in the third with 17 points. Both teams finished strong on the boards with 41 rebounds. Ruthy Hebard pulled down 15 for Oregon.
