Phil Knight Invitational: Trae Young, Oklahoma Too Much For Oregon Ducks

Oregon Basketball dropped their second game in four days vs Oklahoma at the Phil Knight Invitational.

The Oregon Ducks kept pace for most of the game and managed 42 percent from the floor. Oklahoma Freshman Trae Young proved to be too much with 30 points before halftime. He had 43 points for the game continuing a trend of at least 30 points in each game of the Phil Knight Invitational. Oregon had 17 turnovers that ended up being 20 points for the Sooners.

It was the second time in three games that Oregon took a loss. Paul White led five players in double figures for Oregon with 17 shooting 6 for 12 from the floor. The game had 5 lead changes with Oregon leading for just over four minutes. Oklahoma pulled away toward the end. Payton Pritchard was 5 for 15 from the floor and finished the game with 10 points.

Both teams ended with 13 assists respectively. The Oklahoma Defense had 9 steals and 5 blocks vs Oregon. The teams tied with 41 rebounds. Troy Brown left the game in the final minutes after laying on the floor for several minutes. Head Coach Dana Altman said he was okay after the game.

For the Oklahoma Sooners, Young is the real deal. He finished with 43 points off 11 for 22 shooting. He hit 17 of 18 from the free throw line and lead the team with 7 assists. The breakdown for the game saw Oklahoma shoot 43 percent, 26 percent from three-point range, but the Sooners hit 77 percent of their free throws compared to Oregon with 71 percent, which was the difference in the game.
