Oregon Football: Ducks Defense Step Up vs Oregon State Beavers
Oregon Football finished the regular season on a winning streak and by beating in-state rival Oregon State handily.
Some would say 69-10 was a beat down and I would agree. It is rough to look back and think where this team would be if Justin Herbert had not gone down with an injury against Cal that cost him a big chunk of the season. However, Braxton Burmeister gained valuable experience and found a way to showcase his legs and occasionally his arm. Head Coach Willie Taggart preached more than once the importance of not turning over the football with the Freshman at Quarterback.
Justin Herbert brings back more than just a breath of fresh air, but also the ability to become two-dimensional again. While the Oregon Offense put up the points against Oregon State, it was the Ducks Defense that really stepped up and had their best game of the season.
The duo of Troy Dye and Jalen Jelks continued to produce vs Oregon State combining for 14 total tackles. Justin Hollins had a pass breakup and an interception. The Ducks Defense gave up 10 points to Oregon State holding the Beavers to 211 yards and just 98 on the ground for the game. Ryan Nall finished the game with just 49 yards averaging just under 3 yards per carry.
On the other side, the Oregon Offense used 10 different players on the ground including Darrian Felix who should get a boost in carries next season with the departure of Royce Freeman and Kani Benoit.
