Oregon Football Head Coach Willie Taggart did not address rumors on Social Media concerning his departure, but focused on his job with the Ducks.

It was overcast on Friday afternoon. The largest group of Media gathered near the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex to hear from Taggart. First Justin Herbert and Jalen Jelks talked about being excited about preparing for another game this season. Jelks said Taggart had spoken to some players individually concerning the rumors, but the Ducks Head Coach used it for more of a ‘teaching moment’ to show what social media can do.

When Willie Taggart made an appearance, about 45 minutes late his first statement was that he was not there to talk about the rumors, but to talk about the Oregon Football team, the practice they were about to have and the excitement of playing in a bowl game. (We won’t know the destination until Sunday.)

"“I’m still happy to coach here. I’m not addressing any of that rumor stuff.”Oregon Head Coach Willie Taggart on Florida State rumors"

Of course, Taggart had to answer some of the ‘rumor stuff’. He was asked if he was contacted by Florida State to which he said a quick, “No. Can we move on now.” The Ducks Head Coach reiterated that he addressed the rumors with the team when he got back from recruiting and he would always be open and honest with his team.

Taggart seemed sincere, despite the rumors that continued as he spoke with the media, including one that he turned down a Florida State offer. We will have to wait and see. For now, the Ducks will practice for a faceless opponent
