Memphis Head Coach Mike Norvell is an upcoming Offensive Mind in College Football and may also be a possibility. He has had success early in his career and is younger than Taggart. He has coached Wide Receivers throughout his career and has a career record of 18-7.

The downside of Norvell is similar to what the Ducks are dealing with right now. In a year or two, who is to say he won’t consider other higher paying options and potentially depart for another school. His current salary is just under $2 million per season and could be an attractive option for Oregon if he wants to head West.

Last season Norvell and Memphis were 8-5. This season the team is 10-2 and headed to the Liberty Bowl. Mike Norvell also has Pac-12 ties coaching at Arizona State from 2012-2015 which will help on the recruiting front.

Ohio State Defensive Coordinator Greg Schiano interviewed with Oregon Athletic Director Rob Mullens last year before Willie Taggart was hired. With Defensive Coordinator Jim Leavitt under contract, the move would not make much sense.
